Midge Net
The Midge is a small flying insect that bites. It is usually seen in cloud like swarms that are such a nuisance that they can literally drive you away. There are a variety of unrelated flying insects that are all referred to as a midge or midges or even midgies. They are common around the world and tend to be found in cooler, damper climates than the larger mosquito.
They are more than a nuisance the bite can swell and be painful and itchy and their sheer numbers mean that it is difficult to avoid being bitten if you are in the same place as they are. The highland midge of Scotland is particularly ferocious. Midges can track you down by homing in on the co2 that we breathe out.
If you are going to be where the midges are then you need protection. If you are out walking or fishing then a head or hat net is a neccessity. If you are going to camp out in the area then a net over your sleeping area will be needed.
Midges are smaller than mosquitoes, for this reason a mosquito net will not provide adequate protection. They can squeeze through the holes that are too small for a mosquito to get through, for this reason you need specialist midge protection.
Our midge protection nets have holes much smaller than a typical mosquito net at 400 holes per inch, too small for the midge to pass through, midges get up early in the mornings and by 5.00 am they are out and about, hunting for you!
