Mosquito Net Information
Types of Mosquito Net
Mosquito nets basically come in 4 types, there is the free standing or pop up mosquito net, this is designed to pop up into shape as it is removed from its carry case. It requires no further assembly and is ready to use immediately and are truly portable mosquito nets. These are usually designed for use by one person and are best suited as a camping mosquito net for sleeping in a sleeping bag in a tent. We do however have a mosquito net for beds that can also be used over a standard bed and is available in both single and double bed mosquito net sizes.
Then there is the traditional wedge mosquito net, these are wedge shaped with the higher end being at the head end and the point of the wedge at your feet. These tend to be more roomy than a pop up mosquito net but do require attaching to a support to hold the net upright.
Larger and more airy than the wedge is the bell mosquito net this is a centrally hung net that covers the entire sleeping area and are sometimes referred to as bed mosquito nets.
Next up from the bell is the box mosquito net that as the name suggests is box shaped and is like a small net room inside your bedroom. It is the largest and most airy mosquito net that you can get but of course is therefore heavier than the others to carry and requires more support when erected. These are better suited to semi permanent installations in homes or hotels.
For mosquito nets to be effective they of course need to be properly fastened and tucked in, any gaps left behind will allow the mosquitoes to gain access,
Mosquito Netting
The netting used to manufacture these nets is a fine mesh with tiny holes throughout, these holes are too small to allow insects to crawl through but are large enough to allow air to circulate. for protection against the tiniest of biting insects you need the finest hole size possible. Our mosquito nets range from a standard 200 holes per square inch to an ultrafine 400 holes per inch to stop the smallest of biting midges from getting to you.
Impregnated Mosquito Nets
Our travel mosquito nets are all impregnated with an insecticide to kill insects, our Homestyle mosquito nets are untreated. Deltamethrin and Permethrin are the usual insecticides used in the treatment of mosquito nets. Deltamethrin tends to last longer than Permethrin, for example Permethrin tends to last for around 6 months or 4 washes, wheras Deltamethrin can remain effective for 2 years or up to 36 washes.
Baby Mosquito Net
Of course our children in particular need to be protected from mosquito bites and for this reason we also have a range of cot mosquito nets.
